Shek Mun Campus
Space Enhancement

About the Project

To meet the growing and evolving needs of our campus operations, the School of Continuing Education (SCE) has engaged professional consultancy services for the renovation and space enhancement of the Shek Mun Campus.

This project aims to accommodate new classrooms, laboratories, student amenities, and offices, while enhancing building systems to effectively serve our students and staff.

New Teaching Facilities and Major Works

Renovation/Re-layout of Library Area:
The 4th floor held the library’s print collection. The renovation will reduce the number of bookshelves to create more collaborative learning area. Although the size of the physical collection will be reduced, the Library has an excellent collection of e-resources that we will continue working hard to improve.

New Teaching Facilities: New classrooms and modern laboratories will be constructed on the 1st, 4th & 13th floors.

Collaborative Learning Hub: Understanding that study and collaborative learning space is tight during examination period, sections of the 5th and 6th floors will be transformed into a new collaborative learning hub extending to the podium garden.

Other Improvements: Enhancements will be made to the lift system and the open podium on the 5th floor.

Disturbance from Site Work

As site work progresses in various locations, some unavoidable noise, vibration, and dust may occur. We will strive to minimize its impact by shortening periods of heavy noise and implementing effective mitigation measures. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.

Limited access to the work area

There may be occasional restrictions on access to the work area or related floors. To facilitate construction, some facilities will be temporarily closed, and campus furniture and arrangements in common areas may be altered or removed. Please refer to the latest notices for detailed arrangements.

With works of this scope and scale, disruption and disturbance were unavoidable. However, the outcome is a modern space that greatly enhances the campus environment for the benefit of the HKBU community.
