CIE achieved a record high in terms of both the number of awardees and the amount of scholarship money received from the Government’s Self-financing Post-secondary Scholarship Scheme (SPSS) this year. 398 students from Associate Degree (AD) Programme and Undergraduate (UG) Programmes were awarded scholarships, at a total sum of HK$5,660,000.

A Joint Scholarship Presentation Ceremony was held at the Central Government Offices Conference Hall, Tamar on 19 April 2016 at which Mr. Eddie Ng Hak Kim, Secretary for Education presented the certificates to the awardee representatives. Dr. Sam Lau, Director of CIE, also attended the ceremony to give his heartfelt congratulations to all CIE awardee representatives.

Ho Wan Na (Business Administration, Year 2), awardee of Outstanding Performance Scholarship said, “Apart from studying, as a member of HKBU Wofoo’s Leaders’ Network, I had various opportunities to participate in volunteer works and visit Yunnan and Kazakhstan during my study in CIE. All these precious experiences have broadened my horizon and developed my confidence. I would like to express my gratitude to CIE for what I have gained in the past two years.”

The SPSS was established under the Self-financing Post-secondary Education Fund (SPEF) in 2011 to promote quality and sustainable development of the self-financing post-secondary sector. Apart from SPSS, CIE has also offered an array of scholarships and financial aid to encourage students to pursue all-round development. Students may visit the College website for details.
