I worked as a classroom assistant in an education organization in Canada for 7 weeks this summer. My duties included running summer day camps for children with a counselor and organizing field trips for children ranging from grades 1, 2, 5 and 6. For example, we went to Whittamore’s Farm for strawberries picking and played group activities at Lakeview Beach & Adventure Valley. From this position, I learned to communicate with children through different activities and body languages. It was a challenging yet rewarding experience to me as it has enhanced my creativity and organizational skills. I also got to know a group of caring colleagues which have become my friends now. Although the internship only lasted for 7 weeks, I have become a more mature and independent person after participating in the internship programme.
